Sri Lanka, Feb. 1 -- The Australian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Paul Stephens, hosted a reception to celebrate Australia Day on Monday. Health and Mass Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, was the chief guest. This year's Australia Day reception was used to highlight the passion Australians and Sri Lankans share for cricket, as well as significant bilateral events of the past 12 months, such as Australia's gifting of a KingAir 350 maritime surveillance aircraft to Sri Lanka Air Force. The event showcased longstanding bilateral ties that encompass many sectors including trade and investment, tourism, sport, education, maritime cooperation, culture and food.
