Srilanka, May 13 -- The heat index - the temperature felt on human body - is likely to increase up to 'Caution' level at some places in Ampara, Batticaloa, Polonnaruwa and Moneragala districts today, the Meteorology Department cautioned.
The Department said people at job sites should stay hydrated and take breaks in the shade as often as possible. Should check up on the elderly and the sick and should never leave children unattended.
Also, the Department said in the above areas people should limit strenuous outdoor activities, find shade and stay hydrated and wear lightweight and white or light-coloured clothing.
Meanwhile showery conditions are expected to enhance in the southwestern parts of the country up to some extent.
