Srilanka, April 29 -- The Public Health Inspectorate has issued a set of general health and safety guidelines ahead of the upcoming Vesak festival, particularly concerning the operation of Dansals-temporary food distribution centers held during the celebrations.

Under the Food Act No. 26 of 1980, Dansals are recognized as temporary food preparation and serving points. The Public Health Inspectorate has raised concerns that some Dansals may serve food and beverages in unhygienic conditions, potentially leading to foodborne illnesses and water contamination.
