Sri Lanka, May 17 -- A vehicle carrying Thusitha Halloluwa, former Director General of Public Relations to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, was attacked by armed assailants in Narahenpita today, police reported.

According to authorities, two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle intercepted the vehicle and opened fire-shooting both into the air and at the vehicle-using what appeared to be a pistol-type weapon.

Halloluwa was allegedly assaulted during the incident, and a confidential file in his possession was stolen, according to local media sources.

Attorney-at-Law Dinesh Dodangoda, who was accompanying Halloluwa at the time, sustained injuries in the attack.
