Sri Lanka, Sept. 10 -- In Sri Lanka, decisions on the COVID-19 response were taken adopting a whole of Government approach as a matter of National Security and a National Task Force was set up. The country went into an extended period of lock down with an island wide curfew being imposed and inter-district travel being curtailed over an extended period of nearly two months, where all public activities except for very essential services came to a standstill. The high-level government commitment for prompt action at a very early stage in the pandemic continues up to now, Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi said.
