Sri Lanka, Dec. 29 -- According to the Agriculture Department, the Government has provided over Rs. 381 million as special compensation to farmers whose maize, vegetable and other food crops were damaged by Cyclone Ditwah.
This amount has been credited to the Bank accounts of 11,081 farmers so far.
Under this, Rs. 14,423,125 has been given to 365 maize farmers and Rs. 330,750,816 has been given to 9,668 vegetable farmers.
The Department of Agriculture has taken steps to provide this special concession covering all Provinces of Sri Lanka for damaged maize, vegetables and other crops.
