Sri Lanka, Jan. 7 -- Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa accused the Government in Parliament yesterday (06) stating that at a time when people are already struggling due to a natural calamity, the Government has increased fuel prices and are now bringing up proposals to raise electricity tariffs too.
The Opposition Leader stated that although this Government came to power with the promise of reducing electricity tariffs by 30 percent within three years by shifting from fuel based power generation to cheaper renewable energy sources like solar, wind, and hydro, it has instead abandoned those pledges and is acting against the aspirations of the people.
