Sri Lanka, Jan. 7 -- SJB MP Dilip Wedaarachchi yesterday, urged the Government to make a contribution to the Fishermen's Pension and Social Security Benefit Scheme (SSBS) just like the Government makes contributions to the pension of the public servants.

This Government has introduced a new pension scheme for fishermen and this scheme is primarily contributed by the fishermen themselves.

However, the Government has not made any contribution to this scheme.

They are taking contributions from fishermen for this pension scheme and giving its benefits back to the fishermen once they attain the age of 60.
