Srilanka, Feb. 24 -- Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya has announced that all schoolgirls aged 13 and above will receive a stipend for sanitary napkins as part of the government's commitment to student welfare.

She also stated that the groundwork for a major education reform set for 2026 will begin this year. The new system, to be implemented from next year, will start with reforms in the first and sixth grades. As part of the overhaul, efforts will focus on restructuring teacher training, modernizing colleges, and ensuring educators align with the evolving education system.
