Sri Lanka, Jan. 24 -- Education reforms undertaken by the Government should provide equal opportunities for Tamil and Sinhala language students, Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) MP Gnanamuththu Srineshan said in Parliament.

He said that during the education reforms, the government should take responsibility for pre-schools and their teachers and take steps to provide quality basic education to children.

MP Srineshan made these statements while addressing the House adjournment motion on the new education reforms on Thursday.

"Although education reforms are necessary for the country, there are chances of mistakes if it is carried out hastily without conducting studies.
