Sri Lanka, Oct. 19 -- National People's Power movement candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that the country needs a government that can protect the environment.

"IF we are to protect the environment, there should be a plan to utilize lands in a proper manner. This will promote the process of regulating the use of land," he said.

He said that the government in power has a responsibility to ensure a clean environment and food for the people.

Dissanayake was addressing an event held at Udawalawa to launch his environmental policy on Thursday evening.
