Srilanka, Feb. 27 -- Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath on Tuesday stressed that a truth and reconciliation framework will be established in consultation with the broadest possible cross section of stakeholders to garner the trust of all Sri Lankans.

The Minister said that the Government is striving to make the domestic mechanism credible and sound within the constitutional framework.

The Minister was addressing the 58th Regular Session of the UN Human Rights Commission in Geneva on Tuesday night.

"This will include strengthening the work towards a truth and reconciliation commission empowered to investigate acts of violence caused by racism and religious extremism that give rise to tensions within Sri Lankan society," the Minister said....
