Sri Lanka, Nov. 25 -- Gold prices have risen sharply in Sri Lanka, reflecting a significant increase in the global market.
As of today, the world price of gold has increased by $4,150.
In Sri Lanka, this has translated to a Rs. 6,000 rise compared to yesterday.
At the Colombo Sea Street Gold Market this morning, the price of a pound of 22-carat gold reached Rs. 309,200, up from Rs. 303,600 yesterday.
Meanwhile, 24-carat gold rose from Rs. 330,000 to Rs. 336,000 per pound.
Market sources noted that this surge reflects global trends and heightened demand in the local market.
