Sri Lanka, Dec. 1 -- Gold prices in Sri Lanka have risen sharply, according to sources at the Colombo Sea Street Gold Market.

This morning, the price of 22-carat gold per pound was quoted at Rs. 314,700, while 24-carat gold reached Rs. 342,000 per pound.

Market experts attribute the increase to ongoing fluctuations in the global gold market, as well as local demand factors.
