Sri Lanka, April 17 -- All Grama Niladari Officers have decided to withdraw from distributing Rs 5,000 allowance to the needy families, Sri Lanka Grama Niladari Officers' Association National Organizer Neville Wijeratne said.
Addressing a press conference yesterday, he said that they have informed the authorities in writing that they withdraw from the distribution of money until a proper procedure is laid down. Accordingly, the Grama Niladari officers would withdraw from the Grama Committees set up for the purpose of distributing Rs 5,000 allowance from today (17).
He further said that the GN officers were involving in the above work without proper health protective equipment.
