Sri Lanka, Oct. 31 -- The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) has decided to temporarily suspend its island-wide strike that was scheduled to commence at 8 a.m. today (31).

According to a statement issued by the GMOA, the decision was taken following a special discussion held yesterday (Oct. 30) with Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, the Director General of Health Services, and representatives of the GMOA.

During the meeting, an agreement was reached to suspend the Ministry of Health's planned doctor transfers, which the GMOA had previously claimed were implemented in violation of established procedures.
