Srilanka, March 12 -- The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) has announced a nationwide one-day token strike in response to the brutal sexual assault of a female doctor at Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital on the night of Monday (10).
The GMOA's Executive Committee has decided to begin the strike on today continuing until Thursday (13).
While the strike will be observed across all hospitals in the country, emergency treatment services will not be disrupted. Necessary steps will be taken to ensure continuous care for critical patients.
Additionally, the strike will not apply to children's hospitals, maternity hospitals, kidney treatment units, the National Institute of Mental Health, or military hospitals.
