Srilanka, May 29 -- The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) has strongly condemned a recent statement made by the counsel representing former Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa, which allegedly referred to Sri Lankan doctors as "thieves" when comparing local and U.S. medical reports related to Rajapaksa's legal proceedings.Speaking to the Daily News yesterday (28), GMOA Secretary Dr.Prabath Sugathadasa said that the Association finds such a statement deeply offensive and inappropriate.

He noted that the Sri Lanka Bar Association has already been formally requested in writing to express its position regarding the comment made by the lawyer.
