Sri Lanka, May 3 -- The Giribawa Glass Manufacturing Project is shedding light on the Sri Lanka's history of unique glassmaking tradition dating back to the 7th century. Located near Giribawa village in the North Western Province, the site nicknamed Pabalugala has been known for centuries for its scattered glass beads.

Since 2022, the Archaeology Department, Web Info-Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Deutsches Archologisches Institut-German Archaeological Institute (DAI-KAAK), the University of Kelaniya, and CNRS, have joined hands for this excavation project at Giribawa.
