Srilanka, Feb. 1 -- Rising star Inuki Jayaweera overcome a stiff challenge from Githmi Fernando with a hard-fought 6-4, 7-6 victory to book her spot in the women's singles semifinals of the C L Synergy SSC Open Tennis Championship continued at the SSC tennis courts in Colombo yesterday.

Joining Jayaweera in the last four are Gehansa Methnadi, who eased past Tuwini De Alwis 6-2, 6-3, Akesha Silva, who staged a comeback to defeat Rukshika Weerasekara 4-6, 6-1, 10-5, and Oneli Samarawickrama, who edged Venuli Jayasinghe 6-4, 6-4.

In the men's singles semifinals, Apna Perera stormed past Lithium Jayabandu 6-1, 6-3, while Ashen Silva outplayed Ganuka Fernando 6-3, 6-3 to set up a thrilling final clash today (Saturday).
