Srilanka, Feb. 13 -- A notorious criminal, who had committed numerous crimes in Sri Lanka and fled to India, was arrested by officers of the Airport Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Katunayake Airport last night (12).

Mandalagala Bombugalage Sumith Priyantha, 46, a resident of Kuruwita, Ratnapura, had been involved in extortion, drug trafficking, possession of a live hand grenade, and multiple murders in Sri Lanka. He was previously arrested for extorting Rs. 5 million in the Kuruwita area, but managed to escape the country by boat.

After fleeing, Priyantha entered India illegally without a passport. Indian security forces arrested him and subsequently deported him back to Sri Lanka.
