Sri Lanka, Dec. 31 -- The Cabinet of Ministers on Monday (30) approved the installation of four automatic passenger clearance gates at the departure terminal of Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in 2026, with the aim of further improving the efficiency and accuracy of passenger processing, Cabinet Spokesman Mass Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said.

Addressing the weekly Cabinet press briefing yesterday (30), the Minister stated that the decision follows the ongoing upgrading of facilities at BIA to international standards under a cooperation agreement between the International Organization for Migration and the Government of Japan.
