Sri Lanka, Sept. 2 -- The Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation has announced plans to renovate the Colombo Fort Railway Station with financial support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The project, estimated at Rs. 1.395 billion, aims to transform the station into a modern transport hub equipped with upgraded facilities and amenities. According to the Ministry, tenders for the project have already been called, and construction work is expected to commence by the end of this year.

The renovation is scheduled to be completed within 15 months, providing commuters with a state-of-the-art railway station and enhancing the overall transportation infrastructure in Colombo.
