Sri Lanka, Sept. 14 -- Former Law and Order Ministry Secretary Jagath Wijeweera on Saturday said that former President Maithripala Sirisena and former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had informed the Security Council that any arrest of Muslims in the East involved in extremist activities could trigger diplomatic issues.

Jagath Wijeweera, who is the Media Ministry Secretary, told the Presidential Commission investigating the Easter Sunday attacks on Saturday that the former President and the Prime Minister informed the Security Council to be alert on extremist activities in the Eastern Province and Muslim countries will exert pressure on the government if Muslims in the Eastern province are arrested by the security agencies.
