Sri Lanka, Dec. 16 -- Former Minister C. B. Rathnayake was granted bail today (16) by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama. He had been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) in connection with an alleged corruption offense under the Money Laundering Act.

The magistrate ordered Rathnayake's release on two surety bonds of Rs. 2 million each and imposed a ban on his overseas travel.

Rathnayake was taken into custody on December 2 after appearing before CIABOC to provide a statement as part of the ongoing investigation.
