Sri Lanka, Feb. 20 -- Former First Lady Maithree Wickremesinghe has notified the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) that she will not be able to attend a scheduled appearance today, February 20.

She was summoned by the Financial Crimes Investigation Division to provide a statement regarding an ongoing probe into former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

While an official reason for her absence was not publicly released, reports indicate she is unable to attend due to health concerns.

The CID had previously informed the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court on February 18 that a notice had been served to her.

The investigation focuses on the former President's 2023 visit to the United Kingdom.
