Sri Lanka, Aug. 5 -- Former Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Kenya, Kana Kananathan has extended a strategic invitation to Sri Lanka's apparel manufacturers, encouraging them to explore the growing advantages of operating out of Kenya - a country with significantly more favorable trade terms with the United States.

While addressing a business gathering in Nairobi, Kananathan emphasized that apparel exports from Kenya to the U.S. benefit from a lower tariff rate of 10%, compared to 20% when shipping directly from Sri Lanka. He pointed out that this notable difference in duties offers Sri Lankan firms a powerful incentive to relocate or expand their manufacturing bases to Kenya.
