Srilanka, May 14 -- Sri Lanka's Foreign Minister, Vijitha Herath, formally summoned the Canadian High Commissioner on Wednesday to lodge a protest over the recent approval and inauguration of a Tamil Genocide Monument in Brampton, Ontario.

Minister Herath expressed the Sri Lankan government's strong objection to what it described as "unsubstantiated genocide claims" and criticized the establishment of the monument, warning that such actions could disrupt ongoing efforts toward national reconciliation, unity, and lasting peace among the country's diverse communities.
