Sri Lanka, Dec. 11 -- The Health Promotion Bureau has issued a public advisory warning that eye infections, particularly sore eyes, may spread more easily in the aftermath of the recent floods due to overcrowding in temporary shelters and public spaces.

The advisory urges the public to follow proper hygiene practices to protect themselves and reduce transmission.

According to health authorities, sore eyes are highly contagious and can spread rapidly through direct contact, shared items, or contaminated surfaces. Key symptoms include itchiness or a gritty feeling, redness and swelling, excessive watering or discharge, sensitivity to light, and crusting.
