Sri Lanka, Nov. 11 -- Responding to a question raised by MP Roshan Akmeemana, the Minister revealed that 3,975 of these officers have already been deployed, with the remainder to be assigned soon.

He further stated that an additional 10,000 CSD officers will be deployed to assist the Police Department and that special allowances will be provided for their service.

Minister Wijepala noted that officers previously assigned to irregular duties have been withdrawn and are now being reallocated to more structured and essential tasks.

He also informed Parliament that the Civil Defence Department, which comprises 31,421 officers, was officially brought under the Ministry of Public Security last week.
