Sri Lanka, Aug. 5 -- A new 5 MW solar power plant in the Hiripitiya area in Kurunegala managed by PAP MPHL Solar (Pvt.) Ltd., a subsidiary of Pan Asian Power was inaugurated by Minister of Energy, on July 17th, 2025, the plant covers 20 acres. Making a brief on the current policy initiatives, the Minister emphasised that the government policy is to safeguard state ownership in the energy sector while actively encouraging private investment, particularly from local investors.
The solar facility utilises ground-mounted panels, and is expected to generate 10 Gigawatt-hours of electricity annually.
