Sri Lanka, Nov. 10 -- Commissioner General of Motor Transport, Kamal Amarasinghe, announced plans to make it mandatory for all vehicles operating on Sri Lankan roads to obtain a "Road Fitness Certificate." He noted that this internationally recognized procedure is already standard in many developed countries, where no vehicle is permitted to operate without such certification.
Currently, the Fitness Certificate is required only for commercial vehicles. Under the new program, it will be extended to include all vehicles, including private cars and motorcycles.
