Sri Lanka, Dec. 31 -- A fire broke out yesterday morning at a shoe shop in Kiribathgoda town. Later, the fire subsequently spread to the adjacent leading textile shop and several other shops. It has been reported the fire has started due to a sudden electrical fault in the shoe shop. About five fire engines from the Colombo Municipal Council and the Gampaha Municipal Council arrived to doused the fire later.
The Kiribathgoda police said that no casualties have been reported from the incident.
However, due to this fire, there was heavy traffic on the Colombo-Kandy road and the Colombo-Kandy main road has been temporarily closed at Kiribathgoda for some time.
