Srilanka, May 24 -- The final rites of the late veteran actress Malani Fonseka, affectionately known as the Queen of Hela Cinema, will be conducted with state honours at Independence Square in Colombo on Monday, May 26, according to Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs.
In honour of her remarkable contribution to Sri Lankan cinema, her remains will be placed for public viewing at Tharangani Hall, located within the National Film Corporation premises, on Sunday, May 25, from 10 a.m.Malani Fonseka passed away on the morning of May 24 while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo after a prolonged illness.
