Sri Lanka, Jan. 12 -- Labour Minister and Finance Deputy Minister Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando stated that the current Government successfully attracted Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) exceeding US$ 1 billion during the past year and plans to increase this target to between US$ 1.5 billion and US$ 2 billion by 2026.
The Minister made these remarks while addressing the media after participating in a mobile service programme held at the Dorowwa Purwarama Temple in Divulapitiya.
Minister Jayantha emphasised that the Government's primary role in fostering economic development is to create a conducive environment for investment.
