Srilanka, May 6 -- A 53-year-old man was allegedly killed by his son during a domestic altercation in the Makulugaswewa area of Galewela on the night of May 5, according to police reports.

The Makulugaswewa Police stated that the suspect struck his father, Saman Priyantha-a father of two-with an iron rod during a heated argument. The father reportedly fell to the ground and died at the scene.

The son allegedly attempted to conceal the incident overnight but revealed the crime the following morning when he approached a neighbor for assistance. Local residents alerted authorities, leading to the suspect's arrest.
