Sri Lanka, Jan. 8 -- A stock of explosives buried in the Sambu Kalappu field area of Ambandanaweli - Vakarai Divisional Secretariat Division in Batticaloa was discovered by the Vakarai Special Task Force yesterday (7).

A stock of 38 RPG shells, 38 chargers and five hand grenades were found. Troops say these explosives would have been planted by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).

A local farmer had been digging a hole to build a boundary fence around his field when he noticed several objects and informed the Vakarai Special Task Force. Following this, the STF had gone to the area, conducted investigations, confirmed the presence of explosives and informed the Valachchenai District Magistrate's Court.
