Srilanka, April 8 -- Excise revenue on alcohol products has substantially increased in the first quarter of this year exceeding its set targets.

Accordingly, the Excise Department of Sri Lanka has earned a record revenue of Rs. 61 billion during the first quarter of this year," Commissioner General (CG) of Excise, U. L. Udayakumara Perera said.

The Excise Department has prepared a new plan with the aim of achieving a revenue target of Rs. 242 billion for the year 2025.

Accordingly, the target for the first quarter of the year was Rs. 42 billion and it has been possible to achieve revenue of Rs. 61 billion, surpassing that figure.
