Sri Lanka, Dec. 17 -- The yellow anaconda hatchling, which went missing from the Dehiwala National Zoological Gardens on December 6, was found yesterday (16), Deputy Director Hemantha Samarasekara confirmed.

The hatchling was discovered hiding underneath a drawer in a cupboard a few meters from its enclosure. Officials said the animal had escaped through a small hole in its cage.

Samarasekara confirmed that the baby anaconda is in good health. "Pythons typically feed once every one to two weeks, so there is no concern regarding nutrition," he said. The hatchling has been placed under quarantine.

Zoo authorities have lodged a complaint with the Dehiwala Police regarding the incident.
