Sri Lanka, Oct. 30 -- Five environmental activists have filed a Fundamental Rights petition in the Supreme Court seeking urgent judicial intervention to address the growing number of wild elephant deaths caused by train collisions.
The petitioners are seeking an order directing Sri Lanka Railways to conduct an inquiry into wild elephant-train collisions involving a 67-year-old engine driver who has allegedly been responsible for the deaths of seven elephants along the Batticaloa-Colombo railway line.
