Sri Lanka, Jan. 1 -- The Transport, Highways and Urban Development Ministry introduced a new electronic card payment system for Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) buses today, as part of the government's push for innovative digital solutions.
The launch took place at the Makumbura Multimodal Center (MMC) in Kottawa under the patronage of SLTB Chairman Sajeewa Kanakaratne, with guidance from the Digital Economy Ministry.
Accordingly, the passengers can now pay bus fares using electronic cards without any additional charges, ensuring they pay only the prescribed fare. The new system aims to simplify payments and reduce the need for cash transactions.
