Srilanka, May 6 -- Election Commissioner General Saman Sri Ratnayake announced that this year's local government election results are expected to be released earlier than in previous years.

He stated that vote counting will commence immediately after polling ends at 4:00 PM at each station. In divisions with a single polling station, results will be directly announced from that location.

For divisions with multiple polling stations, ballot boxes will be collected at a central location, where counting will take place separately for each station. In remote areas, votes will be counted on-site and results will be brought to a designated results center.
