Srilanka, April 21 -- The secretaries of all political parties and independent groups contesting the local government elections have been summoned to the Election Commission today (21).

According to Election Commission Chairman R.M.L.A. Ratnayake, the meeting aims to address the ongoing challenges related to the local government elections and to provide guidance on the way forward.

In addition, the Commission is expected to convene internally today to further deliberate on the future course of the elections.

Election monitoring organizations have also been called in for discussions regarding their observation activities, with a focus on addressing emerging issues and coordinating future efforts.
