Sri Lanka, Jan. 4 -- Minister of Education Vijitha Herath has emphasized that the future development of the country depends on educational reforms, describing education as an investment in the nation's future.

Speaking at a special press conference held at the Government Information Department today (04), the Minister stressed the need to modernize and renew the education system to meet the demands of the contemporary world.

Since the new government took office, efforts have been underway to introduce reforms focusing on vocational education. Minister Herath noted that the proposals, initiated last year, aim to implement a modernized education system for 6th grade students beginning tomorrow.
