Srilanka, May 29 -- Former Minister Duminda Dissanayake has been remanded until June 5 in connection with the discovery of a gold-plated T-56 assault rifle at a luxury housing complex in Havelock City.
The weapon was recovered on Tuesday (May 20), prompting the arrest of two women and a man linked to the case. Following their interrogation, investigators uncovered information that led to the arrest of Dissanayake.
He was subsequently produced before the Acting Magistrate of Mount Lavinia, who ordered his remand until May 29. Due to reported health concerns, the former minister was initially admitted to the prison hospital. After examination by a specialist, he was transferred to Magazine Prison.
