Sri Lanka, Jan. 9 -- Former Minister Douglas Devananda was granted bail today (09) after being produced before the Gampaha Magistrate's Court.
The Magistrate, after reviewing the relevant facts, ordered his release. Meanwhile, he has also been placed under a foreign travel ban.
The arrest and remand were part of an ongoing investigation into the discovery of a firearm allegedly given to Devananda by the Army in 2001 for personal use during the 2019 interrogation of organized criminal Makandure Madush.
While Devananda has been released on bail, security forces have stated that further investigations into the matter are continuing.
