Sri Lanka, June 28 -- The Disaster Management Center (DMC) yesterday issued a heat advisory for the country for today and tomorrow. Besides the Center has issued heat warnings particularly for Polonnaruwa, Batticaloa and Ampara districts.

Disaster Management Center spokesman Pradeep Kodippili yesterday told the Daily News.

"We expect that hot and humid days will continue in the island for more than a week, probably more than a month," he said."The climatologists at Meteorology Department have apprised and cautioned us that the temperature in some regions could rise to "Extreme Caution" ranges," he said.

The sweltering temperatures are expected to hit highs in the 33 to 41 Celsius especially in the regions of Polonnaruwa, Ampara and Bat...
