Sri Lanka, Dec. 9 -- The Disaster Management Center (DMC) has reported that the number of deaths from the ongoing disaster situation affecting Sri Lanka has risen to 638, with 191 people still missing.
The Kandy district has recorded the highest fatalities, with 234 deaths, according to the DMC.
In addition, the adverse weather has impacted 1,737,330 people across the island, belonging to 501,958 families, highlighting the scale of the humanitarian crisis.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation and provide relief to affected communities.
