Srilanka, May 10 -- The Government has concluded a research programme to digitalise the judicial system and necessary activities to launch the project are currently underway. A committee has been appointed for the Court Automation programme headed by Justice Arjuna Obeysekara where two court complexes have been identified in Negombo and Kandy in order to expedite the process of clearing pending court cases.
Currently there are 29,132 civil cases that are pending before courts within the judicial system of Sri Lanka for over five years up to 10 years and 17,271 cases pending before courts for over 10 years.
