Sri Lanka, Sept. 18 -- A differently-abled student has filed a Fundamental Rights petition in the Supreme Court, alleging that his rights guaranteed by the Constitution have been violated by the decision of the University Grants Commission (UGC) to deny him admission to pursue a degree in technology due to his disability.

The petition, filed by Manujaya Attanayake, was taken up before a two-judge Bench of the Supreme Court comprising Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena and Justice Shiran Gooneratne. The matter has been fixed for support on February 24 next year.
